Sunset at the Palms day 1

Cocktails and Dinner- After the beach, we headed back, showered and met at the pool bar for a cocktail party. They served fruit and cheese, tuna and chicken salads, herb chicken and had a chef teach us how to make peppered shrimp which he cooked over a hibachi grill.
Diago was one of my favorites. He is only 18 years old and is the most mature teenager I ever met in my life. He works 6 days a week, has excellent morals and has many goals and dreams. Diago only bartends in between shifts of other bartenders. You can usually find him in the ala carte restaurant or the buffet dining room.
This is the lounge area of the pool bar. Some people choose to get married here instead of the beach. It's a beautiful location and occasionally they will have a private reception party if it is a large wedding. Nightly entertainment is usually held here as well.
Since we had a late lunch and then the cocktail party, we decided to skip dinner and explore some of the grounds. Previous to our trip, I did a lot of research on trip advisor by visiting the forums. (thanks to all for your help!) In the forum, I met a couple from PA who were to be there the same week. They said they would have a pink and green bubba mug (32oz!!) Well, I found there mugs before I found them! TIP: These mugs are recommended as they keep drinks cold for 5 hours and hold a large amount of liquids. This is one of many exotic, tropical flowers flourishing throughout the resort. Unfortunately, I do not know the names of any. I regretfully missed the nature tour. TIP: Take the nature walk with Shorty, the gardener. You can find out when this is by checking the daily activities schedule by the lobby bar.

This is the fairly new gym. I didn't take pictures of the entire facility. It has plenty of state of the art equipment and also features a separate room for yoga, Pilates and aerobic classes. Each week there is a new instructor.
Another angle of the pool bar... Some people wrote in their reviews that the pool was too small. That may be the case if the resort was much larger. This pool was a perfect size for this small resort. Usually, there was a maximum of 3-4 people in the pool at one time.
After exploring the grounds, we headed back to the pool bar to listen to a local Reggae artist until around 10:00pm and then went back to the cabin to retire for the night. It was an exciting though exhausting day. This is a picture of the Jacuzzi in the back corner. The water was always piping hot and was so very relaxing in the evening hours after a pool swim.
